Yoga For a Healthy Spine

Many women over 40 have lower back issues - pain, discomfort, stiffness and disc disease which often goes undiagnosed.

If you have lower back pain or other types of back issues, yoga can help.

I’m sharing my morning yoga routine that I try and do every morning to keep my back healthy and pain free.

I have had lower back issues in the past as well as pain in both hips from time to time.

My physical therapist prescribed me a protocol that included lots and lots of cobras to arch and extend my spine as well as stretches for my hips.

Check out my video to see how I modified a sun salutation to make it safe for my spine as well as to stretch and strengthen the muscles of my back and hips. I wanted to avoid rounding my spine.

Sun salutations are great to stretch and strengthen the whole body.

They are particularly good to stretch and strengthen the muscles of the back and hips.
