Why I Left The Corporate World in My 50s to Teach Yoga

I spent over 30 years in the corporate world. Then I became a certified yoga teacher and wellness coach in my 50s leaving the corporate world behind.

First I became a yoga teacher over 10 years ago now.

Becoming a yoga teacher has been a deeply personal and transformative journey for me, shaped by three significant aspects of my life: my mother’s battle with cancer, my own struggles with knee pain after years of dancing, and my passion for helping women live healthy, happy, and pain-free lives.

My mother is a cancer survivor, a fact that profoundly influenced my understanding of health and wellness.

Witnessing my mother’s journey, I learned that cancer, while a formidable challenge, has lifestyle components that can be managed and, in some cases, mitigated through mindful living.

This realization planted a seed in me about the importance of preventive care and holistic health. I wanted to be part of a movement that empowers women to take control of their well-being, reducing their risk of chronic illnesses through mindful practices.

Dance has always been my first love, but after many years of rigorous training and performances, I began to experience severe knee pain.

I turned to yoga as a way to find relief, and it was a revelation.

Yoga didn’t just alleviate my knee pain; it taught me to listen to my body, to understand its limits, and to nurture it.

This experience was a turning point.

I realized that yoga was more than just a practice; it was a path to healing and self-discovery.

These personal experiences culminated in my decision to become a yoga teacher and now a wellness coach.

I feel a strong calling to share the profound benefits of yoga with others, especially other women my age.

Women juggle so many roles and responsibilities, often neglecting their own health and well-being in the process.

I want to help women live healthy, happy and pain-free as far as possible!

Teaching yoga and now being a wellness coach allows me to support women on their journey to wellness, helping them to lead lives that are not only pain-free but also filled with the joy of living!

I now teach a gentle style of yoga appropriate for women over 40 looking for a slower class.

In my classes, I integrate my understanding of the body’s needs, the importance of a holistic approach to health, and the joy of movement.

I focus on strengthening, stretching and deep relaxation, all super important for us women over 50!

I draw from my personal experiences to create a space where my students feel supported and empowered.

I now teach mainly on Zoom which has enabled people from all over the world to join me from the comfort of their homes!

My mission is to inspire women to embrace a lifestyle that nurtures their bodies, minds, and spirits.
