What if it hurts? Move it or rest it?

As women get older many of us are likely to experience some amount of joint pain.

I’ve had many different aches and pains over the years, in various different joints including my knees, hips, back and shoulders.

Joint pain can be caused by various things including osteoarthritis, bursitis or an injury.

As a yoga teacher, I often get asked if when a joint is hurting you should move it or rest it.

My answer is it depends!

As always though, it is important to both strengthen and stretch the muscles around the joint.

It is also important to always be mindful of how it feels, and if it doesn’t feel right to you, just don’t do it!
