5 Reasons To Look Forward To Menopause
So if you know me you know I try hard to be positive!
That's why I'm giving you 5 reasons to look forward to menopause just in case you were wondering!
Most women dread the idea of menopause, thinking of it as an end of something (youth maybe?) rather than a beginning of something great.
The challenges of menopause are pretty well known, but today I'm focusing on the positives!
So here goes.
1. NO MORE PERIODS!
This one needs no explaining!
Periods are super annoying to say the least, not to mention the PMS fun that many of us have experienced! I think I'll just leave that one there!
2. SEX WITHOUT WORRYING ABOUT PREGNANCY
This one is also pretty self explanatory. Let me share a comment I got on IG about this which I found so apt: "I'm going through it (menopause) now..and sex is awesome...".
So great sex is something to look forward to! (Although some women do report declining interest in this area).
3. UTERINE FIBROIDS SHRINK
Many many women develop uterine fibroids in their pre menopausal years. And some women experience painful fibroid symptoms, including pain, heavy menstrual bleeding, and pressure on the bladder.
Fortunately, fibroids often stop growing or shrink when women reach menopause and estrogen levels decline. This is a big yay!!
4. GREATER SELF CONFIDENCE + TIME TO TAKE MORE CHANCES
Many women in menopause report feeling more self confident, self assured and empowered!
This could be partly because of the biological changes that take place in menopause and partly because of the point in life at which menopause occurs - no more small children to take care of, no more periods and PMS, careers and relationships generally settled.
After quite a few years on the planet, many women now care less about what others think of us and more about what will make us happy, whether that means a new hobby, new career, new relationship or some other fun adventure!
With have half our life to live, our motto now is "Stop holding back and playing small - the party starts now!'
American anthropologist Margaret Mead called it "menopausal zest" — the rush of energy, both physical and psychological, that some women feel after menopause.
5. A TIME FOR SELF CARE
Women in menopause generally are now freer to focus on taking care of themselves, which for many is a welcome change!
Menopausal women often make their own health a priority after years of looking after others. It's also a time to reflect, take time out and reduce stress in our life.
